چکیده
Abstract Apart from many lost wax cast metal fragments, crucible fragments and several heated sediment nodules were found at the Chalcolithic site Fazael 2 (central Jordan Valley). Petrographic investigations on revealed features characteristic of Southern Levantine casting moulds. Heating temperatures assessed using infrared spectroscopy, showing that did not vitrify clay fraction in Consequently, is first identified Levant production for items. These findings confirm existence a metallurgical tradition with Valley parallel to unalloyed copper metallurgy Northern Negev. Moreover, crucibles are made local ferruginous loess, material mentioned previous studies mould fragments. Therefore, more than one such must be assumed.

The Chronology of the Ghassulian Chalcolithic Period in the Southern Levant: New 14c Determinations from Teleilat Ghassul, Jordan
This article reports on ten new accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) dates from the Chalcolithic period (fifth millennium BC) archaeological type-site of Teleilat Ghassul in Jordan. Early radiocarbon assays from the site proved difficult to integrate with current relative chronological formulations. The ten new AMS dates and follow-up enquiries connected with the early assays suggest that the or...

متن کاملOptimization of Dimensional Deviations in Wax Patterns for Investment Casting
Investment casting is a versatile manufacturing process to produce high quality parts with high dimensional accuracy. The process begins with the manufacture of wax patterns. The dimensional accuracy of the model affects the quality of the finished part. The present study investigated the control and optimization of dimensional deviations in wax patterns. A mold for an H-shaped wax pattern was ...
متن کاملChemical evidence for wine production around 4000 BCE in the Late Chalcolithic Near Eastern highlands
Archaeological excavations in the Areni-1 cave complex in southeastern Armenia revealed installations and artifacts dating to around 4000 cal. BCE that are strongly indicative of wine production. Chemical evidence for this hypothesis is presented here using a new method to detect the anthocyanin malvidin that gives grapes and pomegranates their red color. Using solid phase extraction (SPE) and ...
متن کاملThe onset of faba bean farming in the Southern Levant
Even though the faba bean (Vicia faba L.) is among the most ubiquitously cultivated crops, very little is known about its origins. Here, we report discoveries of charred faba beans from three adjacent Neolithic sites in the lower Galilee region, in the southern Levant, that offer new insights into the early history of this species. Biometric measurements, radiocarbon dating and stable carbon is...
